Job Summary / Organizational Impact

Responsible for the assembly of parts and approving final inspections as instructed and/or per work instructions keeping both the efficiency and the quality standards as set by management.  Identify improvement opportunities and quality concerns to management and assist in the implementation of improvements.  Serve as Department supervisor when the supervisor is not available.  Assist in training of Assembly Mechanics as directed by management.

Responsibilities and Essential Function

  1.  Performs the duties of a Lead Assembly Mechanic, assembling product, setting up the work cell for production, confirming quality inspections, and posting as required in the NAV system.
  2. Backup the Assembly Supervisor when they are not available or need assistance for specific tasks, such as scheduling personnel to production orders, assisting Lead Assembly Mechanics with setup or computer issues, printing labels, and communicating with management on issues that need attention.
  3. Assist in training of Assembly Mechanics on all aspects of production, including filling out training records, as directed by management.
  4. Maintains a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment. Attends required health and safety training, and follows safety and security policies, procedures and practices. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to supervisor. Follows operating instructions, uses protective equipment when required, and uses equipment and materials properly. Actively strives to prevent accidents and injuries.
  5. Perform other related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Organizational Skills. Must be organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills. Must be motivated to continually perform a routine task.
  • Tools and Equipment. Must be able to operate specialized equipment, including pneumatic crimper, automated bagging machine, forklift and man lift, other pneumatic tools and various hand tools.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 – 5 years applicable experience preferred

SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:

This position is occasionally exposed to the following environmental conditions: protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes, no effective protection from weather, sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level and one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

 

This position is frequently is subject to air and/or skin exposure to oils and/or other hazardous materials.
